TEFL teaching English Overseas Award - Fulbright Scholar Program
Established in 1946 by Senator J. William Fulbright, the Fulbright Scholar Program is responsible for sending both U.S. academics and professionals overseas and bringing foreign scholars and professionals to the USA. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the Institute of International Education’s Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES).Global TEFL award
To be eligibile for the Global TEFL Award from Fulbright, you must be a U.S. citizen and hold a PhD or MA in TESOL/TEFL, applied linguistics, second language acquisition or another strongly related field. You should also possess at least three years experience teaching at college level and have experience of teacher training.NOTE: EFL or ESL teaching alone is not sufficient to qualify for this particular TEFL award program.
It is also highly desirable that you have expertise and experience in the development of curriculum and teaching materials.
People who have previously received Global TEFL Awards came from more than 500 different institutions across all states and were fro all levela of academia, with tenured and untenured positions, at post-doctorallevel and new members of faculty as well as professionals from all types of institutions.
Language Requirements
Due to the TEFL focus of this program, all teaching is carried out in EnglishFor destinations in Latin America, Spanish language skills are a requirement to facilitate consultation with colleagues
In other countries, a working knowledge of the local language may be desirable and will certainly be appreciated by local contacts

You should consider :- Length of grant: For example, the grant for Bolivia is for 89 days while in Taiwan it is for 11 months.
- Activities: Are you interested in simply techin English overseas or teaching and research opportunities?
- Specializations: Do you want o specialize in TEFL? Applied linguistics? Or another field?
- Affiliation: Is there a specific institution you wish to be affiliated with for the duration of the program?
